Material & Surface Character
The River Guard Saman Table Board is handcrafted from solid Saman wood, selected for its expressive grain, warm natural coloration, and distinctive organic character. Measuring 12 inches wide by 36 inches long with a substantial 2-inch thickness, the board has the visual presence and durability to complement a handcrafted dining or conference table.
Depending on the individual piece, the board may feature either clean straight edges or retain the natural live edge of the Saman slab. It can be crafted in solid wood or incorporate clear epoxy, allowing the natural contours, openings, and character of the wood to remain part of the design. Because every Saman slab is unique, grain patterns, coloration, knots, and natural edge formations will vary.
Structure, Form & Spatial Presence
Designed as both a functional accessory and a natural extension of handcrafted wood furniture, the River Guard is elevated on legs to create a raised protective surface above the tabletop.
Most importantly, the board can serve as a large-format trivet, providing a designated surface for serving pieces, dishes, and other items that should not be placed directly on a finished table. This is particularly valuable for handmade wood-and-resin tables: using the River Guard as a protective layer helps reduce direct exposure to heat, abrasion, scratches, and other potential damage to the table's resin finish.
Its generous 12" x 36" surface provides considerably more coverage than a conventional trivet, making it practical for serving multiple dishes while protecting the table beneath.

Craftsmanship & Custom Options
Each River Guard is individually handcrafted from Saman wood and finished to highlight the natural character of the material. At 2 inches thick, the board maintains the substantial appearance associated with slab furniture while its raised-leg construction distinguishes it from a conventional cutting or serving board.
Straight-edge and live-edge configurations may be available, as well as solid-wood or clear-epoxy designs. Natural variations in the wood ensure that no two River Guards are exactly alike.
Custom dimensions, wood selection, edge treatments, and epoxy configurations may be available upon request.
The piece shown may already be sold; however, a very similar piece can be custom-crafted upon request.

Return Window
You may request a return within 30 days of receiving your order.
Eligibility for Return
- The item must be in unused, undamaged condition
- It must be shipped back in original or equivalent protective packaging
- Stock items are eligible for return
- Custom-made items are not eligible unless they arrive with a clear defect or damage
Items Not Eligible for Return
- Custom orders, including any bespoke dimensions, materials, finishes, or epoxy selections
- Products altered after delivery (including refinishing, assembly, or third-party modifications)
- Items marked Final Sale or Clearance
- Items exposed to outdoor environments or improper conditions (e.g., humidity, heat, neglect)
How to Initiate a Return
- Contact info@holzsch.com within 30 days of delivery. Include your order number, a brief explanation, and photos if relevant.
- If approved, you will receive a Return Authorization and shipping instructions.
- The customer is responsible for return shipping and adequate packaging.
- Once we receive and inspect the item, we will issue a refund to the original payment method, minus original shipping costs.
Damaged or Defective Items
If your item arrives damaged or has a workmanship issue:
- Notify us within 5 days of delivery
- Include photos of the product and its packaging
- Holzsch will repair, replace, or refund the item at our discretion
Exchanges
We do not offer direct exchanges. If eligible, return the item and place a new order.
Additional Terms
- Refunds are processed within 7–10 business days after inspection
- Returns not meeting these conditions may be rejected or subject to a restocking fee
- Holzsch reserves the right to evaluate each case individually
- In-store returns for stock items follow the same 30-day return policy

- Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the table.
- For regular cleaning, dampen the cloth with lukewarm water, wring out excess water, and gently wipe the table's surface. Dry it immediately with a soft cloth.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or acidic cleaning agents as they might damage the table's finish.
2. Epoxy Resin Care:
- Do not place hot objects directly on the epoxy resin sections. While the resin can handle some heat, prolonged exposure can cause discoloration or deformation.
- Use coasters or placemats to prevent potential scratches or marks.
- If the epoxy becomes cloudy or scratched over time, you can rejuvenate its shine by using a mild polishing compound and a soft cloth.
3. Wood Care:
- To maintain the wood's moisture content and prevent cracking or warping, avoid placing your table near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
- Natural wood can expand and contract with changing humidity levels. It's normal for the wood to have slight movements.
- For deeper cleaning or to address stains, use a wood-specific cleaner, ensuring you follow the manufacturer's instructions.
4. Spills:
- Address any spills immediately to prevent staining. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe away the spill and then dry the area.
- If a stain occurs, especially on the wood sections, consider consulting a furniture professional for advice on removal.
5. Protection:
- Consider using protective pads when placing heavy objects or electronics on the table to avoid potential indentations.Use trivets under hot dishes or pots.
6. Yearly Maintenance:
- Re-oil the wood sections once a year or as needed, using a suitable wood oil to retain its luster and ensure protection. Before applying, ensure the table is clean and dry.
